Currently GP’s cannot prescribe or advise patients on weight loss injections.
Responsibility for prescribing and monitoring these drugs will lie with the private provider. Please do not ask your GP about suitability for these as suitability will be assessed by the pharmacist or company providing them. The practice will also not be producing letters for companies regarding individual patients suitability for these injections. We can, however, provide a medical history summary where requested by the company with a signed consent form from the patient to allow release of this information. It should be noted , however, that providing a medical summary does not mean a clinician has checked whether it is safe or not for the patient to be prescribed this treatment.
